RagingWire Data Centers will rebrand as NTT in coming months as NTT brings together 28 of its affiliate companies into a single entity to serve the global IT marketplace.

The new NTT will bring focus to a collection of regional data center companies that have operated as independent entities. NTT’s data center holdings include RagingWire in the U.S., e-Shelter in Europe, NetMagic in Southeast Asia, systems integrator Dimension Data, and NTT Security. The consolidated company will operate 145 data centers in 20 countries, and have more than $11 billion in revenue.

“We’re globalizing our brand by bringing together a comprehensive, end-to-end stack of solutions from 28 different businesses into one proposition,” said Douglas Adams, the President and CEO of RagingWire. “This new global company is not a telco company.

“We support customers at every stage – from initial consulting, to mapping out a strategic plan, through a complete managed services proposition that covers every base, to ICT infrastructure services, to technical and support services,” Adams said. “This is delivered through a single partner, streamlining the process of engaging with our different operating companies.”

Significantly, Adams said the new NTT will enable customers to use a single SLA (service-level agreement) and MSA (master services agreement) across its global footprint, simplifying international expansions for corporate IT infrastructure. NTT’s products will also be harmonized to offer consistency across a global presence.

“As one NTT family, we are looking forward to doing greater things with intelligent technology solutions for you and the communities you are serving around the globe,” RagingWire said in an announcement on its web site.

New Services for Customers

The NTT logo now appears alongside RagingWire’s on the company web site, and Adams said that it will begin to be included in brochures, t-shirts and signage. The new NTT brand will officially be launched at the PTC conference in January 2020.

NTT acquired an 80 percent equity stake in RagingWire in 2014 to establish a larger data center footprint in the United States, with RagingWire’s founders and management team retaining a minority stake. In 2017 NTT bought the remaining equity in the company.

NTT says customers will see no change to their contract, service, or customer representative. “Everything that you like about RagingWire will still be in place,” the company said. “RagingWire will continue to be the data center platform for the Americas under the NTT brand.”

The company says there will be benefits for customers. including improved access to managed services such as cloud, deployment management, cybersecurity, and call centers, with global support for hyper-converged infrastructure. “We’ll build on a strong foundation of global talent, global brand trust, and core NTT organizational values,” the company said.

A Data Center Growth Story Continues

The RagingWire brand dates to 2000, when the company was founded by a team including George Macricostas, Yatish Mishra and Adams. From its modest start with a single data center in Sacramento, RagingWire has grown rapidly in recent years and now operates 2 million square feet of data center space delivering 245 megawatts of critical IT load with an additional 3 million feet currently under development.

“I was the one who developed our (RagingWire) logo,” said Adams, who has led sales, marketing, product, and operations teams during his tenure. He directed RagingWire’s strategic expansion into the wholesale data center solutions space and the building of data center campuses in Sacramento, California, Ashburn, Virginia, and Dallas.

Despite his lengthy connection to the RagingWire brand, Adams is not nostalgic about its retirement.

“For me, it’s exciting,” said Adams. “Change is good. (The NTT brand) is so much more powerful for our customers and employees, and this new company is really positive on the data center business.”
