Explosive growth in stored data volumes is putting intense pressure on IT budgets and staff. The challenge now will be figuring out how best to store all this data. A new white paper explores the changing landscape of data storage, and offers a review and economic evaluation of Cloudian Hyperstore.

Explosive growth in stored data volumes is putting intense pressure on IT budgets. The challenge now will be figuring out how to store all this data. A new white paper from Cloudian, sponsored by the Evaluator Group, offers a review and economic evaluation of Cloudian Hyperstore as compared to the traditional purpose-built backup appliance (PBBA).

Storage administrators’ jobs are getting even bigger, and protecting their enterprises’ data is becoming more difficult. In this environment, many are turning to object-based storage systems, such as Cloudian Hyperstore.

According to the report, vendors are positioning these types of storage systems as “on-premises targets for backups.”

The report explains the integration of object-based data protection storage with cloud storage resources is seen as the “key” to scalability, cost savings, efficiency and more.

In fact, storage plays a huge role in hybrid cloud pilot projects, which for many enterprises include on-premises storage for data that must remain within the data center.

The white paper covers in detail Cloudian’s HyperStore, a hybrid cloud-capable, object-based storage platform, when used as a target for data protection applications.

Cloudian HyperStore is an on-premises, scale-out, object storage-based system that is designed to run on industry standard Linux server clusters. The report covers the product’s features in detail, which include erasure coding, parallel disk I/O data protection, virtual nodes, native S3 interface and more.

The full report from Cloudian covers the following topics in detail:

  • Modern Data Protection and the Hybrid Cloud
  • Cloudian HyperStore Essentials
  • Cloudian Hyperstore in a Modern Data Protection Environment
  • TCO Comparison of Cloudian HyperStore vs. a Competing PBBA
  • Cloudian HyperStore as a Remote DR Target
